Senior Salaries

The Local Government Transparency Code 2015 requires local authorities to publish details (including job descriptions, responsibilities, budgets and staff numbers) of any senior employees earning over £50,000 per annum. Local authorities must also publish the pay multiple, defined as the ratio between the highest paid taxable earnings for the given year and the median earnings figure of the whole of the authority’s workforce.

Wootton Parish Council has one post where remuneration is £50,000 or greater.  The Clerk to the Council/Responsible Financial Officer post sits within the LC3 (37-41) (substantive benchmark range: SCP 37-41) with a corresponding salary range of £48,226 to £52,413.

The Clerk to the Council, as Head of paid staff and Responsible Financial Officer, is responsible for the following:

  • Strategic leadership of Wootton Parish Council, working with members, three staff members, partners and other tiers of local government to develop a clear vision and long term aims for the village and parish council.
  • Management of service performance to ensure timely delivery of all corporate priorities.
  • Leading the work with key partners to ensure delivery of agreed objectives and projects.
  • Monitoring of all revenue and capital budgets for the parish council to achieving the financial objectives set by the parish council.
  • Management of contract negotiations for all capital and revenue contracts and tenders to ensure best value.
  • Providing advice to councillors on matters of governance, statutory powers and public affairs generally.

Wootton Parish Council does not pay bonuses or benefits in kind to employees.
