Developer challenges Inspector's decision in the High Court.
UPDATE
Since the adoption of Wootton’s Neighbourhood Development Plan which focuses on low-density development including starter homes and bungalows, the developer of this site has withdrawn their appeal.
The speculative application to build up to 81 dwellings on land adjacent to Wootton Upper School is to be re-determined by the Planning Inspectorate, following a High Court bid by Hollins Strategic Land LLP.
Wootton Parish Council objected to this proposal (as did a number of residents) and requested the application be determined by Bedford Borough Council’s Planning Committee. The parish council then employed the services of a planning professional to help draft robust reasons to refuse the development.
Members of Bedford Borough Council’s Planning Committee agreed with the parish council and resolved to refuse the application – against their case officer’s advice. Hollins Strategic Land LLP appealed that decision, however, the Planning Inspectorate dismissed the appeal and upheld Bedford Borough Council’s decision to refuse planning permission.
Hollins Strategic Land LLP are again contesting that decision to refuse planning permission – hence the High Court bid and subsequent ruling that the application must again be re-determined by the Planning Inspectorate.
